Don’t Worry – Be Happy!

Jamaica was my first international trip, just out of college, and it was the start of my love for travel.  This was of course before the internet was big and all that was available was a dial up modem (yeah I am getting older), so planning was a little more challenging.  Back then, you would call various travel agents and they would send you a bunch of brochures, so I would have stacks everywhere.

Since Jamaica was the birth of my love to travel, it is only fitting to be my first blog post, so let’s begin…….

Jamaica is the 3rd largest island in the Caribbean Sea where English is the official language and Reggae music was made famous by Bob Marley.  Even though Kingston is the capital, we will focus on 3 areas that are the most popular for travelers:  Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril.

  • Montego Bay is known for its all-inclusive resorts, numerous beaches, golf courses and where some of the cruise ships port.
  • Ocho Rios is often described as the garden parish.  Dunn’s River Falls is one of the main attractions of the area and is a not to be missed adventure.
There are vast shopping option and it is also home to some world class resorts.
  • Negril is celebrated for its diving and snorkeling sights along with being very laid back!  It is also home to the infamous 7 mile beach where you could spend a whole day walking along the sand while popping into various bars for a Red Stripe beer or Rum punch.  It is a great location to let your worries disappear…………………..

Between the 3 areas featured above you can see that Jamaica has something for everyone.  Whether you like the nightlife and bar scene, or want to unwind by the beach or pool, Jamaica has you covered.
